Women of the Word
In October we continued our study of Helene Ashker’s book, “Jesus Changes Women” by looking at Hannah (1 Samuel 1:1-28) and her devotion to God through prayer. Our next meeting will be November 16, where we will learn of the women of Luke 8:1-3 who benefited from personal fellowship with Christ, and working together as believers.
For more information, please contact Captain Ronalee.

Home League
On Tuesday, the ladies worked together to wrap nearly 400 of the 800 Christmas socks we’ll be distributing to nursing home residents this Christmas season. Great job, ladies! Elvira did a program on American citizenship, even giving us a “mini” version of the citizenship test she had to take when she became an American citizen! In honor of her two “heritages”, she brought southern fried chicken and German potato salad for the ladies to share.
Join us at 10:00 am each week for fun, fellowship, and the support of other women! Keep your eyes open each week for our program announcements. It’s great fun, and all ladies are welcome!
For more information, please contact Captain Ronalee or Julie Goude.

JR. YPL/YPL
This week while the Jr. YPL enjoyed Bible time and fun in the game room, the YPL had a lesson from Matthew 6:33 which teaches us that our priorities should start with God will in our lives.
Then we were off as three teams for a game of “Van Hide and Seek”. Best clue of the of the night, “Dolce Bob” (Sweet Tomato).
We invite you to bring your pre teens and teens to our Wednesday night fellowship opportunities! Please contact Quinton Markham for scheduling and more information.

Bible Bowl
Bible Bowl is a competitive Bible memorization program, where teams comprised of young teens compete in championships for yearly bragging rights! Last year, the Vancouver Corps was named the Northwest Divisional Champions and went on to compete in the Territorial Championships in Southern California!
In addition to practices every Thursday evening, they are now beginning practices on Tuesday nights. They have even gained a new member!
This year’s Bible Bowl “season” is officially under way. In preparation for the Divisional Playoffs in April, our team of teenagers will be studying and literally memorizing the books of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. We’re excited to see all these young people will accomplish!
For more information on this program, please contact Quinton Markham.

We invite you to join us every Friday at 6:30 pm for one hour of exercise (always at a beginner’s level), as well as some laughter thrown right in!

Sunday Morning Prayer Focus
At 9:15 Sunday morning we open the Sanctuary for a time of focused prayer. We take time for quiet and personal prayer, with a written prayer focus provided as a guide.
This week’s prayer focus reminded us that in an age where we are always connected through cell phones, pagers and the internet we need to remember to STOP, and quietly wait on the Lord. We should always be looking for ways to shut out the distractions of the world and listen to the voice of God.
We invite you to join us for this time of prayer each Sunday morning, immediately followed by our Sunday School and Bible classes.
For more information, please contact Captain Ronalee.

Sunday Worship
We enjoyed a nice visit with Captains Bill and Lisa Dickinson and their daughter Katie from divisional headquarters. Also present were Bill’s father and mother (Majors William and Mary Dickinson), sister, and brother (Major Mike Dickinson from Sierra Del Mar DHQ, San Diego, CA). Thanks for joining us.
Also, thanks to the Beginning Band for providing tunes for the congregational songs. You folks are doing a fantastic job.
Message
This week we took a look at 2 John. What we find here is three topics about one main theme:
- We need to know the Truth (2 John 1-3)
- We need to walk in the Truth (2 John 4-6)
- We must live in the the Truth (2 John 7-11)
When we are able to make these a reality in our life, then we will have fellowship with the belivers (2 John 12-13) and we will be living with the promise of eternal life.
